So today the first edition of the series relaunch with a fantastic square from Jago called Biewer (Jago products have dogs names this season. Last season there were birds names. I’m curious what comes next?!) The scarf  is a 75 x 75 cm square made of silk and cotton. Very cosy.

How to Wear Scarfs and Shawls – The Sling

August 11, 2009

As we are often asked from customers in our shop, we decided to make a little series on how to wear scarfs and shawls. So many different sizes, so many different shapes make it exciting to experiment with various wearing opportunities. Our first choice is this classical styling; Mette Marit Princess of Norway was the one who made it popular again. So here´s how you do it:

And how it looks like when you wear it:

Thank you Martha for being my photo model while Barbara enjoys her spare time. Big Kiss!

una notte indimenticabile – an unforgettable night

July 13, 2009

Last weekend Laurens and me went to Genoa participating the wedding of the year. Our Italian friends finally made it after living together a couple of years and made the dream of a perfect wedding come true. The said “Yes” to each other in a small church on top of a little hill in the area of  Sestri Levante. And now I’m in real trouble finding words to describe how incredible this event was. Only that much: I will cherish these moments for the rest of my life and will tell my grandchildren about it for sure.

Because the two of them are definitely special for me, I decided to make a wedding shawl for them as soon as I got to know, that they will marry. I thumbed through my pattern books and found a suitable piece I could knit for them: “Frost Flowers and Leaves” by Eugen Beugler  published in A Gathering of Lace.

Because two different patterns repeat I thought as a good symbol for the two of them.

The diagonal lines of leafs for me symbolize the ways of our lives that crossed.

I enjoyed working on that piece a lot and the 6 month it took me to finish it were worth the moment I gave the present to them. Unforgettable beaming of joy and happiness both had on their face while holding each other dancing.

At least: New Shawls from Blaumaxx

June 9, 2009

We waited desperatly for their arrival, now they are here. The new shawls from Blaumaxx (100% cotton).

The colors are great and they are so soft and cosy you don’t want to take them off again. We have two different color styles: plain and gradient. Do we really have to sell them? I want to keep them all.

So soft, I nearly don’t want to give them away…

… yesterday a last, highly longed for the shawls of Petrusse arrived in our shop. This french brand has an extraordinary range of beautiful shawls is natural materials like silk, wool etc.

The patterns and colors are outstanding. It will be really hard to give them away to our customers. But we will find somebody who cares the same way as we do, I’m sure. Love them!

First goods arrived

March 3, 2009

Last week some unexpected goods for our future shop arrived at construction site. Well … unexpected not really, because we ordered these goods. But unexpected at that time: we told all the suppliers not to ship before march 1st to Raumerstraße 19 and even switched delivery date not before march 15th, because of the shop not finished yet.

But thanks to Klaus, one of our favourite workers on site, we’ve got the small package. He accepted it and stored it the construction trailer. A big thank you to you, Klaus! You did us a great favour!

Now let’s have look what was in the package. The small box came from Darmstadt, our former hometown, from a company called Eigenart. Eigenart are two women called Heike and Nina, who are are developing their own fashion collection and a shawl collection called Frans. They have as well a shop in Darmstadt. I just read a very interesting article about them and their story on FAZ.net. I am sorry for all the English speaking readers,  but the article is in German.

Now I give you a glimpse into the parcel’s content:

the very colourful selection from the box

some white ones

Stay curious on all the other shawls that have been in the box. There are even some for men. You will be able to see their full beauty soon in the Beuteltiere Shop.
