Got a Tip

November 4, 2008

yesterday a mysterious letter reached me… No address from the sender on the outside… a handwriting not familiar to me… Made me really curious! Inside a very nice little card…

… and a business-card from a very interesting German Bag designer: macharten

Behind the label macharten stands the designer Monika Assem from Karlsruhe. The collection captivates with its pure and clear silhouettes and sensitive use of materials. See some examples here…

… and the complete collection on macharten-website.

Great thanks to Ute for that nice Tip!

Industrial Designer – Josh Jakus

October 28, 2008

Today I want to focus on one of the bags I presented yesterday and the man who invented them: Josh Jakus and his UM Bags.

UM Bags

The designer is living and designing  in Berkeley and created the wonderful bags shown above. They are made of factory excess industrial wool felt, which would otherwise go to waste. The bags come along in different sizes and unzip completly flat, a perfect travel accessory.

For me the combination of felt and colorful-zipper makes the union between function, form and functionality visible. I would appreciate to have them in our shop!

Bags with Wood…Lether…Felt…

Here are some collectables I picked up on-line lately:

(Lara Camaron´s Birch Clutch)

(Neiko Designs “Olivia”)

(“Love Birds” Wristlet from cha cha)

(Queen Bee “Edith Tote”)

(UMBags by Josh Jakus)

The rainy, cold temperatures outside make me look for products with a warm, cosy and homely touch. What about you, do you have any fluffy, cuddly items in your favourit box?

Blockead – and other associations

Today’s post is all about wood. After a long felt-addicted period I changed my most loved material (besides all time favorite:wool of course). Wood is warm, can be from smooth-polished to raw-ruffled, has all different colours and is fascinating even newly cut or antique. some pics I found:

Enjoy your day!
