Redecorating the shop

May 4, 2009

On Saturday had quite a tough day at the shop: we removed our desk and the computer from the shop, put it into the storage room, dismantled the lamp hanging over the desk, installed our brand-new tables made by our favourite carpenter Sven and redecorated the whole shop. Sounds like this has been a BIG day! Yes it was. And besides we kept up selling activities and hosted several very nice surprise guests from Aachen, Katrin’s home, and old friend from school who I haven’t seen for 9 years now and a friends sister from Holland with her two little twins. Well … I think our Friends and family network works well.

But now see how the redecorated shop looks like:

Our brand new tiny little tables in the middle of the shop.

Our table full of men’s products form Property of… in front of the cherry blossom wall.

Thirtyfour leather bracelet made of chicken leather on an Eigenart scarf called Libelle (dragonfly).

Change of decoration at Beuteltiere

April 15, 2009

After Easter its time to take the beautiful ceramic Easter eggs away, which were handmade by Katrin’s mum! A change of decoration is necessary that fits to our actual cherry blossom theme: we did some origami crafting and fixed some tiny origami cranes in the window.

BTW, you can also buy these origami cranes on a string at our Dawanda shop.

Cherryblossoms glooming in the night

March 31, 2009

Last preparations are made  at the Beuteltiere. My fingertips are a bit sensitive because folding all the cherry-blossoms take its toll. But now, looking at all the colourful beauties is worth it.

Thanks to Barbara my hands are embalmed by great hand-cream, so nothing can stop me from decorating the rest of our little cherry trees. I leave you with a couple of photos, take care!

Frühling, Spring, printemps, primavera, 春

March 10, 2009

Unbelievable, but true: I guess the winter is coming to it’s end. Yesterday, maybe because it was Barbaras birthday the sun was shining in Berlin, at least temporary. Everywhere you can buy tulips and spring flowers. Which brought me to the idea of changing our homedecoration from winter to spring. Gathering for inspiration I rolled some old Elle decoration journals and surfed a lot around the Internet. There I found this nice guy from Hamburg. He is master-florist and owns a shop called Himmel und Erde. He has some videos on line at you tube, but I decided to show you this:

Another great florist I know is Gregor Lersch. His shop and atelier is situated in Ahrweiler (beautiful, small town in the Rhine area). I had the pleasure to follow one of his courses once. I got it as a birthday present and I´m still remembering this great weekend as an absolutely inspiring, overwhelming experience. If you are interested in his work see some pictures under this link. He is a genius.

I’m amost on the go

October 19, 2008

Two weeks left until I will leave Aachen. I already started to pack up my things today. The first box is packed. My job… I won’t miss it, but my nice apartment in an old building I will miss for sure. And of course I will miss my two housemates Philip and Heiko. I am already keen to explore Berlin and to push our business ideas forward.

See here a few images of my room in our nice flat.

See here my Copylight, a German design product, with a self-made image hanging over my bed to illuminate my long reading nights.

See here my collection of nice postcards and other things that are important for me. It’s a self-made metal rope from a Home Depot store tightened with screws at the wall where I fix my cards with tiny little magnets.

See here my beloved Ikea vase made for Ikea by Hella Jongerius. (Sorry, this model isn’t available at Ikea any more. Only this one is still available.) Oh I love her work! This is one of my most loved decoration things in my room.

Above you see a picture (the one in the frame) from a very talented artist friend who studied design together with Katrin and me. See her Dawanda shop or her homepage. Or see her and her work in a video about one of her last years exhibitions here.
