Looking out the window I start to become depressive… it’s raining cats and dogs the whole day. We’re in May, dear Petrus! That’s why you get a colourful picture of our “tree” in forn of the shop (you might know this tree already: it’s our former christmas and easter tree). It’s quite versatile this tree .

Happy to see

Last weekend I was sitting in the train for 6 hours and forgot my book at home. That’s why I bought a women’s magazine at the train station. Paging though this Instyle I discovered something that I was really happy about. On page 98 (Mai 2010 Issue) there is one of our products: the Thales leather bracelet in silver by Thirtyfour!

Why am I so happy about it? Isn’t it normal that sometimes our products are in magazines like that? Well that’s true, it’s quite common that or products are in magazines. But this brand is a very special one: Thirtyfour is a very small company coming form Malaysia and it’s not that common that they are in a German magazine. I am happy for Thirtyfour has managed to be in this magazine and I am happy that I am the only one selling these products in Europe. Yeah! And Thales is even my personal favourite bracelet!

It’s time for another episode of “My Favourites”, and today, I’m going to tell you about this lovely scarf from Jago.

Labrador by Jago is a colorful scarf, that can brighten up any rainy April-day. It’s actually what it did today, while I was watching the rain pour down on Raumerstrasse. The grey base makes it easy to match with different tops and jackets, while the orange-yellow-and turquoise, and of course the fringes, make the scarf interesting.Do you need a scarf that brightens up your day? Now you know where to find it!

A blanket for the little one

When I got to know that I will have a baby I certainly wanted a diaper bag… Lucky me we have a great variety of them. And I knew I want to make something very special for my little one. Something she will keep when she has grown up. Maybe dedicated for her first little one?! As I am a passionate knitter what you could read here and here. I decided to knit a cosy, warm blanket, where I could wrap her in when it’s cold. Which keeps her comfortable anywhere we go, which gives her the feeling of being home while traveling. So I grubbed through my different knitting books, Internet places and at last found this pattern at twist-collective (an on-line knitting-mag, which I really like). It is my first piece I knitted in the steek-method: At technique you use when you want to knit fair isle. You knit the piece in round and after sewing across the steeks you can cut it with scissors and you will have a flat piece. I knitted monkey and ring square like this, then put them together by knitting a double layered edge. I enjoyed knitting it very much. To much. As I got a heavy tendon sheath inflammation… But it was worth it! I thought about my little one in every loop I knitted. All my love is in that merino blanket:) But see here how it looks like:

We got this most amazing orchid on our first birthday, about a year ago, and we’ve nurtured it ever since. And now, a year later, it is more beautiful than ever! Is it a sign, a sign that tells us that the upcoming year is going to be great?

Let’s hope so shall we!

Beuteltiere’s birthday

On Saturday we celebrated our tiny little shop’s first birthday. It was a great party! Thank you to all the guests, clients and friends for coming by and celebrating with us! And a special thank you to our neighbours Sabine and Janet from Pomeranza Design Ranch who gave a fantastic birthday cake to us!

Then not only see our on-line-shop . At creative park, a website from canon, there are many crafting projects offered as free downloads. Look what I found in their Paper Craft section: A kangaroo! So now you can make your own marsupial and it has a little one in his bag.

Very sweet and quite trashy are these “kissing dolls”:Or do you need a lucky item, then why not choose this cat:

The projects are presented in DINA4 and letter format with detailed instructions.

Surfing through the Internet I found an article about Sara Illenberger. She is a Berlin based creative who’s work isn’t easy to grab and define in one simple box.

She transforms stories, expressions and themes in unique and extraordinary way. The funny, often sarcastic way she spots the gist of the matter shows the wide range of her creativity. She works almost alone for different commercial or editorial clients and occasionally works with a photographer. My inspiration of the day.

The day that we’ve all been waiting for…

…is finally here – our one-year anniversary! On April 4th 2010, the doors to the Beuteltiere-Shop in Berlin finally opened, and this past year has been great! We’ve gotten to know some wonderful people; customers, designers, fellow-bag-enthusiasts, supporters, andandand… We’ve accomplished a lot, especially creating our online shop, and establishing ourselves as a company. We couldn’t have done it without you!

So – we have a lot to celebrate! If you’re in the neighborhood of Raumerstraße 19 in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, you should stop by for a nice, refreshing and bubbly drink! We can offer you Seltzers or Sekt, whatever you’re in the mood for, and something to nibble on – between 4-8 p.m.! We would love it if you’d make it!
