Private Plates – Guests

October 30, 2009

Oh what a night! We had much fun and laughed a lot with our nice guests!

Anna Tembrink – knit-fashiondesigner

Manuela Chiogna – italian designer

Sina M öhring – Illustrator

Sven Bäuker – designer and cabinetmaker

I cooked a menu with three dishes again:

Starter: red cabbage salad with pomegranate seeds and pecan nuts

Main course: veggie Tajine with Curcuma bulgur and yoghurt toping

dessert: french apple tarte with homemade vanilla sauce

Stay tuned for the recipes! It takes a little time to write them down. Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures of the prepared dishes… Sorry for that but you at least can get a small impression on the meal by looking at the cooking photos. Just click here.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Another glamorous shop opening

October 28, 2009

Last Saturday I attended another glamorous shop opening. This time in  at Moritzplatz, where Sylke and Nicole opened their shop “schoener.waers.wenns.schöner.waer“. They only sell products that are sustainable, ecological, fair and marvelous. Their slogan in German “Kauft nachhaltig besser, öko, fair & wunderbar.” All the people enyojed Bio Sparkling Wine and tasted bio chocolate…hmmm! Unfortunately I was there very late and missed the afternoon program and the big crowd of people.

Nicole and Sylke enjyoing their evening.

They presented their postcards very nicely!

This lamps are my favourite products… unfortunately quite expensive.

Hand-Knitting presented by Martha

October 27, 2009

I want to share a new way of knitting, Martha my neighbour’s daughter showed to me couple of days ago. It was so sweet to follow her instructions that she gave to me so professional and serious – I was stunned. So here is my little sketched instructions how to knit with your hands only. Start with a slip knot which you slip over your small finger. Then proceed with second picture in my instructions.

And how it looks like when Martha does it.

Its reminds me of knitting with the Strickliesl but you get a straight, not knitted in round piece. The bigger your fingers are, the more loopy your knitting will get. Enjoy testing!

Over a Year – Blog Anniversary

October 26, 2009

Wow! Time flies by and we can see back on over a year blogging history. Striking experience, no doubt! And we are happy to do it still with the same enthusiasm. Topics change a little as we are now REAL business owners and our big life time-dream came true. So no more struggling with boring courses and, sniff, no more marketing classes with Anthony. Still discovering new labels, people and little treasures. Confessing about obsessions and joyfully puzzling on new ideas. Thanks for taking part, for writing comments, visiting us here and in real life. A big Thank You for your company in our daily Beuteltiere live.

Time for a little cake and celebration.

My Businesspartner is a Root Vole

October 21, 2009

Barbara transformed. She became a root vole.  I´m not kidding. I can see her ears getting a little more pointed ;) No, actually she is working hard in our cellar.

Doing a lot of photographing for our soon opening online-shop. Therefore we need a bunch of product pics as you can imagine so lot of work to do. My job in this case is more comfortable and first of all:much warmer then staying underground. I write on chic, crispy and animating texts to describe our stock in full detail. Sitting in a cosy chair, coffee within reach, favorite music in the ear is definitely better than breathing muggy air, having cold fingers and a stiff back. You have to know that our cellar ceiling height is made for gnomes measuring around 2 meters max. Bad for tall ladies like Barbara. That means an extra portion yoga for her tomorrow  and a hot chocolate in her breaks…

Patterns for Wrist Warmers in two Styles

October 20, 2009

A promised last week here the two different patterns for my invented wrist warmers. They are really easy to knit. Only the picot crochet ending and the knitted in pearls are a little more complex. If there are any questions about the patterns, don’t hesitate to contact me. I will try to explain and help as good as I’m able to. Just click the links below to download the patterns in either German or English or go to our pattern, tutorial and recipes page and get them there.

Bag find – Nica

October 19, 2009

Well… it’s quite some time ago that I have been to the leather fair in Offenbach. But I haven’t told you everything so far. I detected a new bags brand there called NICA. Nica is a UK based company whose designer is Korean. They do quite young bags for reasonable prices. I am sure that my small sister would like these. What I didn’t like: most of the bags are made of artificial leather. That’s why I couldn’t order these., because that is not working with the Beuteltiere philosophy to sell quality leather products. I just ordered colourful cloth bags with nice patterns for summer. Yes… christmas time has not even started yet and we are already thinking of summer?! We are about half a year in advance with ordering most of the products.

Sorry no pics of these Summer bags. You will see them, when they arrive at Beuteltiere in March.
