An apple a day

April 30, 2009

You know what? There’s is a guy who passes regularily at our shop who noticed Katrin knitting in front of the shop. The first time he saw her he wanted to invite her to drink a coffee and she denided. After a while he came back and offered her an apple what she couldn’t deny.

Today he came back with another apple and told her when they reach 4 kilos of apples she must go and drink a coffee with him. Sounds like we shouldn’t buy any apples in the near future. Maybe tomorrow he will bring a bag of 4 kilos of apples. I’am curious. Thank god he hasn’t seen her wedding ring yet, because I like his apples :-) .

Hip, hip, hurray!

April 29, 2009

Just want to let you take part at our outraging joy we had when we were informed about our prize at the Business Plan Wettbewerb:

You have to know, that we were informed about our success in the competition one day before our grand opening. First  picture our situation: Wearing construction-clothes for over 3 weeks; feeling exhausted from decorating, doing all the official stuff. Not to forget the guest hosting we did for all the friends who wanted to be part of our great day… And than, our nerves at the edge, a light voice chirped in my ear like a bird song: Beuteltiere are one of our winners at the business plan contest. Best message of the day, believe me. What great sign for our future, am I right? The champagne corks popped a few minutes later and we celebrated  even before really opening the shop :)

Berlin is on fire

April 28, 2009

This weekend was the official start of the barbecue season in Berlin. Tim invited to the Mauerpark to celebrate his birthday with a barbecue. And we as new Berliners were totally impressed by the mass of people barbecuing in the park. The ambiance there remembered me a bit a totally crowded open air bath, but the water was missing. Instead there were a lot of trails of smoke. Totally crazy…

A birthday present for Tim

April 27, 2009

Last week we made somebody happy. We gave a present to my roommate Tim, because it was his birthday and because he made some professional photos of our shop. See him unwrapping his  black Tom day bag from Property of…

Gaining wealth and fame – Step 1

April 24, 2009

Yeahhh! Yesterday was a big day for Beuteltiere: we achieved the fist step in our project gaining wealth and fame. We were awarded as one of the five winners in the 2nd step in the category service in the Business Plan Contest Berlin-Brandenburg! We spent an exciting award ceremony at the Universal hall in Berlin where 10 different companies in the two categories service and technology were awarded with a huge cheque (not in the meaning of the sum written on it unfortunately, but in the meaning of the size of the cheque). We were on our best behavior on stage and showed two of our favourite bags during the interview on stage!!

Wow, what a great day! Now we are curious if there is an effect on our business from winning that award. Will more people come, because of us beeing in the press? See the Beuteltiere Press release that is launched for this award.

If you want to know more on all the other winners of the BPW, please click here. Sorry, it’s all in German.

Now it’s time to work on the 3rd part of the buiness plan. We won’t miss the chance to probably win as well the 3rd and last round! But that will be really hard work! Financial planning :-(

See some pics what happenend besides the stage:

Professional Beuteltiere Photos

April 23, 2009

Two days ago my dear roommate Tim, who is a photographer, made some pictures of our shop. He came with some very heavy equipment (a big fat camera and a big flash light) and shot some photos of the shop, our bags and ourselves. Today I saw them the first time and want to show at least some of them to you, too.

Thanks to Tim we have some very nice photos to present Beuteltiere accordingly. This might be useful very soon. Stay tuned ;-)

Thank you my dear Tim and happy birthday!

Erdbeermund

April 22, 2009

Just wanted to give you some pics of my new breedings: Strawberries.

I followed the instructions of Deva, who gave a great pattern on flickr. I attached one berry on my jacket today and even the rain outside couldn´t tear me down :)

The children, visiting our shop with their mums, all start to play with them, while they are lying there as a decoration on a serving plate from kaki.koma. I think about doing some more fruits. What should I try next?

Supper Salon

April 21, 2009

Last week  I was invited to go to the supper salon: a dinner with a group of about 10 creative people who present their work to each other. All this is initiated by a girl from London called Rebbecca. During the dinner I found out that she is actually working on fantastic wallpapers called Tactilewonderland.

At first I hesitated a bit to go there, but finally I did it and it was great. While eating or between eating (all the delicious food was self-made by Rebecca and some friends by the way) all the people presented their work. There were some artists, a web developer who writes a novel, a girl trained in PR and Marketing, a danish girl working for a film project, an architect, Frank and C.R.,two bloggers from IheartBerlin…  all different kinds of creative people from all over Europe mainly from UK.  We discussed ideas and projects together in a very relaxed atmosphere.

New Shop neighbor – Cereals No.29 natural deli

April 20, 2009

Oh it´s a pitty you can´t smell the great scent of the perfect little goat cheese I just took a photo of… mmmmh, yummy!

Saturday a new neighbor joined the round of our women-business-corner: Kati. She opened a bread, flour and butter-creations shop just around the corner. And what can I tell you? Delicious! And she´s such a sweety as well. We are so lucky to have such a great neighborhood here.

“The bread will stay good for one week, because it´s made of 90% rye flour and 10%wheat.” she said. Well, that may work if you do not have a husband like my one… tasting a small piece first and than…. I had difficulties to get at least one slice of it too :) Once you are around you should taste the tomato-ginger butter: the mixture of fruity tomato-flavour with the fresh-spicy scent of ginger:

Definitivly a hit!

Mexican bags … so cute

April 17, 2009

Recently I found these bags on the www. Where exactly? Honestly I can’t remember: must have been a blog. Look at them. Aren’t they cute?! So sweet. They come from a Mexican company called Purocarazon. And the photos are so nice, too.

Probably we should order these for next summer. What do you think?
