In the cellar.

February 9, 2010 by Barbara

These days I spend my days in the cellar to take pictures of the new products which arrived last week. I hope I won’t mutate into a slater (Kellerassel for all Germans) one day sitting in th cellar and taking photos. Sounds a bit Kafka-like in my ears…

You can already see the new Fredsbruder collection in the shop and you will soon be able to see the new Fredsbruder and Jago stuff in the Online-Shop. Just give me some time to work on the pics…

Studs, studs, studs…

February 8, 2010 by Barbara

It’s already some time ago that I went to the Premium during Berlin Fashion Week and still I have some posts in mind about that event. One of these posts you will get today:

While walking around the fair I found studs (Nieten in German) everywhere. Studs on bags, shoes, gloves, clothes…simply everywhere. So girls… keep in mind that studs are still a big theme for Autumn/Winter 2010/11.

My Favourites.

February 5, 2010 by Anna

I am proud to be the one who gets to introduce you to our new sequence here at the marsupialia blog: “My Favourites”

As the title of the sequence already tells you, our purpose with “My Favourites” is that you will get to know us a little more – through our favourite pieces in the shop.  I was very honoured when Barbara told me that I got to be the first one to tell you about my favourite piece, so here it comes!

My favourite piece at the moment is the Dinkum Tenor by Ina Kent. I love that it’s spacious – you can fit anything in there – yet flexible, since you can make it smaller just by pulling the straps that are placed on each side of the bag. And just like that – you’ve gotten yourself a brand new bag, for brand new purposes!

And the bag’s  flexibility doesn’t end there! You can remove the shoulder strap and use it as a belt instead! So, out of one accessory – you now have two! And don’t you just love the colour – caramel? And its softness (a little hard to feel for you guys, sitting in front of the computer – so you have to take my word for it!), it’s feels nice and smooth! And the best part (well, maybe not the best – but a pretty good one, I must say) is that the bag is super light, you can hardly tell that you’re wearing it!

I could praise this bag for a few more hours, but that will not be very interesting to read, but if you are looking for a flexible and spacious bag, I would recommend the Dinkum Tenor any day!

The one that I’ve presented here today is the large version of the bag, but we also carry it in medium – in black!

Happy Hunting!

Missing Kati

February 4, 2010 by Barbara

These days I miss Kati, our shop neighbor, who has a bread shop called Cereals No. 29- natural deli. She’s on holiday and I miss my daily raisin-cinnamon bagel for breakfast and her delicious sandwiches with grilled vegetables, tomato-butter and cheese.

I am off now to cook some noodles here in the shop. Third day in a series that I eat pasta with red pesto… Thank god Kati is back on Monday!

I am too busy to blog

February 3, 2010 by Barbara

At first, sorry for not blogging yesterday. I am sure you missed me. Already on the second day without Katrin in the shop I didn’t manage to blog, hmpf. At the moment there is so much to do: Yesterday two huge packages of new Fredsbruder bags and  wallets arrived:  Yeah the brand-new Spring/Summer collection is available now. But that means for me: unwrap them all, make prices, make price tags… Uff. I miss Katrin. These kinds of jobs are much faster, when there are two working on it.

And what happened just half an hour ago?! A postman came with another package: th Jago scarfs of the Spring/Summer Collection. Ufff….again more work. Why do theses kind of packages always come on the same days. Couldn’t Jago have waited a bit. At least tow days that I can finish Fredsbruder and bookkeeping. That’s another big task on my to do list!

New at Beuteltiere: Ina Kent

February 1, 2010 by Barbara

Already more than half a year a very nice client from Austria gave us a hint to look at an Austrian bag designer named Ina Kent (sorry her website is under construction at the moment). Well…we looked at it and forgot about it, we talked about it and forgot about it. But one day we really managed to write an email to Ina and asked here if we could sell her bags here in Berlin. And she said yes.

(For German readers:  Click on the pic to read a press-article about Ina.)

Since a few days in the shop and since a few minutes online we are now selling Ina Kent bags… we will see how they perform. What I already found out: these bags need explanation, because they are so well designed that they have lots of different functionalities. It even took me some tries to understand all the possibilities of attaching the straps and transforming the bags.

See here Monnlit6:

But fantastic leather: either in natural colour or metallic colours. I love both!

A bientôt! See you soon! Bis bald!

January 29, 2010 by Katrin

Today is my last working day at Beuteltiere Shop. I will soon be a mom and so it’s time for me to rest a little. I’m a real “Beuteltier” at the moment ;) carriing around a big, round belly. Isn’t that easy in a city which seems to be built just on ice at the moment, I can tell you. I fell three times till now, and I don’t want to do that once more. Anyway, me and my little passanger are staying well.

Lucky we found Anna as a new Beuteltiere-Crewmember. So I’m deeply relaxed that everything will be good during my abscence. And  without Barbara of course I would be lost in worries. Thanks for taking that burden away from me darling! So keep your chin up while I’m at home! Hope to be back soon, with new energy, inspirations and plans.

Kisses from Katrin to you all! Will miss blogging. Maybe I find the time for a post in between, we’ll see.

Guests, guests, guests!

January 28, 2010 by Katrin

Yesterday Nicola from nicoletter.com revisited our shop once again. She had some days off and decided to freeze in Berlin :-) How nice to step by and say Hello and we got a little present from her; have a look:

And this morning Rianne, the nice lady who takes part at our exhibition “Paradiesapfel, die Versuchung liegt so nah” with her beautiful necklaces, peaked in as well. What a pleasure meeting her! Barbara will be sad having missed her. And look what she brought us as a present:

Delicious!

Thank you girls. For your friendship, your creativity and inspiration. Happy to have such cuties around us!

I am running

January 27, 2010 by Barbara

I am running after all my To Do list. Puh… what a day. I don’t know why exactly, but my planning for today didn’t work very well.  I am running after my Checklist and tasks are chasing me.  Uah! I think this always happens, when I have too many little jobs in mind and I don’t know where to start: a matter of priorities.

I just remember one seminar we attended last year. Probably I should re-read this blog post again and use the waste bin more often.

A beautiful, yet freezing, day in Berlin.

January 26, 2010 by Anna

As I was walking from my apartment to the shop today, with most of my face covered up by this old poncho that I, at this time of year use as a huge scarf,  I just had to stop for a moment, even though I was in a hurry. I glanced over at Kulturbrauerei, this old brewery which is now the center of the nightlife in Prenzlauer Berg, with all its restaurants, cafés and clubs. This incredible building stunned me, by its massiveness and the beautiful colours from the windows, which were brought out by the intense sunlight, reflecting on them. What a beautiful city! What a beautiful day! What a…!

I did no get to finish that sentence, since my knees and ankles started aching from the freezing wind that has dragged itself around the city the past month, so I quickly continued walking towards the shop. So now I’m sitting here with a cup of tea, nice (Swedish) music, and a thick cardigan, trying to keep myself warm. So far, I’m doing pretty well in here…

Other “Berliners” are having a little more trouble, so it seems. According to Tagesspiegel could this be the coldest Winter since 1947, and it hasn’t been this much snow since 1979. Mailmen are having trouble delivering the mail, people in wheel chairs can’t get through because of the snow drifts, and the parents can’t get out of their front door with their strollers. Chaos – that’s what is going on in this city! You don’t even want to make the efford to go outside, because it takes you about 15 minutes to put everything on, to at all BE ABLE to go outside! You get quite a work out, that’s for sure!

But after a while, you get fed up by all the snow and the icy wind, when you reach that point you’re not even interested in crawling out of the soft and warm bed. You just want to stay in – and stay negative!

That’s why I was so happy today, seeing the sun making its way through the clouds, and even if it’s pure imagination, I did feel a little bit warmer.

It’s a start! And tomorrow, it will continue, from todays -17 degrees to “tropical” -5 degrees. We’re heading in the right direction people – can’t you just feel the smell of…well…spring?

Barbara went down in the basement to our little “photo-studio”, to take some pictures of some new arrivals, like the oh-so-cute apple necklaces, made by Bisou van Rianne, and the very smart V.I.P – Very Intelligent Pocket – now available as a limited edition in a very elegant purple velvet by Tintamar, among other products. So you be good and keep an eye on the blog and on the online shop to get a glimpse of our new goodies in the next few days!
